How is GuruShare different from all the other How-To and DIY sites
out there?
GuruShare has a narrow focus. We’re concentrating only on topics useful in
the education, software training, and professional development space. Not that we
don’t enjoy a video teaching us how to fold a T-shirt in 5 seconds…
but that’s not why we’re here.

functionality to Flash, which most browsers have a plug-in for without you even
knowing it. It is completely safe to download and install. For more information

there is a wealth of other How-To and DIY material out there, we’re focused
on providing a work / class safe environment catering to academic and skill building
knowledge.
Your videos should be between 5 and 12 minutes long, and in any of the following
formats: avi, wmv, flv, 3g21, mod2, 3gp1, mov1, asf, .mp41, mpeg3, avs4, mpg3, dv1,

How do I rate a video?
Videos can be rated in multiple ways. The most common and familiar way is with the
“star rating”. This is a simple subjective rating of the video out of
5 stars. You decide your criteria, and you decide the rating! Another means of rating
a video is with “button reviews”. You may flag any video as being any
one or all of “Useful”, “Well Made”, or “Learned Something”.
We feel this ads a specific sense of encouragement to the gurus, who after all,
are sharing their knowledge free of charge.

What are compliments and how do they work?
Compliments are a freeform way of expressing positive feedback. You can give anyone
a compliment at any time for any reason. If you enjoy the topics a guru teaches
on, send them a compliment! If you think a comment is particularly funny, send them
a compliment!
Clicking the “send compliment” text beside a user’s profile picture
opens the compliments menu. From here, select a compliment type, and enter any text
you wish to send. Once you click Send, the compliment is delivered.

What are the Useful / Well Made / Learned Something buttons for?
These are flags you can put on any video you view. It’s a way of giving specific
positive feedback to a guru on his or her hard work. It also provides GuruShare
with means of sorting and ranking videos on any given topic.
